Investigating Cyber-Physical Energy Systems
The development of new digitalization solutions is crucial for the successful implementation of the energy transition, for both manufacturers and operators of such systems. In our cyber-physical laboratory, we provide the ideal environment to examine these solutions under controlled and secure conditions. A unique feature of our lab is the ability to analyze various systems either as virtualized replicas or to integrate them directly into our real medium voltage network.
This enables a seamless transition from examining scalability in extensive simulated systems to detailed analysis of the interaction of various components in our medium voltage distribution network laboratory. Examples of such solutions include flexibility coordination mechanisms, decentralized control systems for distribution networks (such as for the implementation of §14a), or AI-based network control.
Thus, our laboratory represents a unique research and development platform, enabling not only the exploration of cutting-edge technologies for sustainable energy supply but also their practical testing.
