Prof. Monti receives NRW Innovation Award 2022.
Professor Antonello Monti and his team at the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems at RWTH Aachen University receive the Innovation Award for the development of the SOGNO (Service Oriented Grid for the Network of the Future) platform.
Professor Antonello Monti has been awarded the 2022 Innovation Prize by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for his research on the IoT platform SOGNO (Service Oriented Grid for the Network of the Future). The software platform SOGNO offers distribution grid operators improved control, aiming to enhance usability and optimize energy sources. Minister of Innovation, Professor Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, emphasized, »The economy and society have set ambitious goals: By 2045, we aim to have a carbon-neutral economy in North Rhine-Westphalia. To achieve this transformation, we are gradually transitioning our energy supply to renewable sources. This poses huge challenges for the power distribution networks. Professor Monti and his team have developed a platform to better utilize the capacities of existing grids and support the expansion of renewables. Such innovative solutions can facilitate the energy transition and strengthen the acceptance of citizens.«
