Presenting the preliminary results of the municipal heat planning for Aachen
The preliminary results were presented in the Eurogress in Aachen on December 2nd.
The city of Aachen commissioned the consortium, consisting of Fraunhofer FIT, IAEW of RWTH Aachen, BET, and GERTEC, under the consortium leadership of ENERKO, to carry out municipal heat planning in close coordination with the city and other regional stakeholders. The inventory analysis and the analysis of energy-saving potential were led by FIT and IAEW as part of the Fraunhofer Center for Digital Energy.
On November 25, the draft of the heat plan was published and has since been made available to policymakers and the public for discussion. A revised version of the report will be presented to policymakers for further review after public consultation and feedback from relevant stakeholders. The city council intends to adopt Aachen's heat planning in the summer of 2025. At an initial public information event held on December 2 at the Eurogress Aachen, preliminary results and additional background information were presented.
